My Newest Acquisition

I am the happy owner of this very interesting old picture! I am told that it is actually a photo of Ann Harrington, a prominent businesswoman in Plano whose family played a major role in the history of Plano, Texas. My guess is that the picture was taken in the 1930's.

A Chicken Show and Tell

Recently I gave a Chicken Lady presentation at the Shepherd Center of North Dallas. These seniors are a wonderful group of people who made me feel right at home. I enjoyed them so much as I shared my chickens and chicken stories with them. I told them how I came to be known as the Chicken Lady and showed them some of my most favorite chickens. Here are a couple photos someone took when I was there.

A Peep at the Coops Tour

Walter and I recently attended a tour of some backyard chickens in East Dallas. What fun we had!

Here we are ready to embark on our journey to the different residences in the area. Wherever we went, people wanted to take our picture because they liked my Hee-Haw overalls!

I am holding a very special chicken. I think it is called a Polish Frizzle. You can't even see her eyes or beak for all her feathers!

This picture was taken at the entrance to the backyard of a Montessori School. The children here tend the garden and the chickens. The children designed these beautiful chicken banners. They are made of fabric and would make a swell quilt, wouldn't they?

Apologies and Catch-Up News!

I can't believe it's been so long since I blogged! Sorry about that. Let me think what I can tell you.
One interesting thing I have recently discovered is storigamy! That's a combination of origamy and story-telling. (Check it out by googling "storigamy.") What fun to tell a story as you fold paper into different shapes! I found an idea for folding a chicken shape as I tell the story of my search for the "nodding chicken." This paper chicken can nod her head--I call her "Agreeable Agnes."
We have discovered a website called "Godvine." It's Christian videos. Check that out also. Search for Mary Margaret's Story of Jonah. This is a six-year-old telling the story of Jonah. I thought it was so remarkable that I tried to copy her style and told the Jonah story to my nursing home friends.
Other amazing videos are of a girl who plays the piano, but has no fingers. And there is a two-year-old who sings with his parents "God Will Take Care of You." Absolutely priceless!
