My Chicken Marionette

Isn't she a dandy? She is so lifelike when she walks around! She's a favorite in my collection! I found her for sale with other animal puppets at a celebration around the McKinney square last fall.

Grandma's Towel Rack

Here is something I recently rescued from my Grandma Gompf's house--it is the roller towel rack which hung just inside the back door, across from the hand-pump sink. When you were ready to dry your hands after washing them in the sink, you simply pulled the circular towel down to find a clean, dry spot to dry your hands. I love this reminder of bygone days. I mounted the roller on my bathroom wall and made a towel to fit it. Have you ever seen one like this?

The Whole Family Is Together (Jan. 3, 2010)

Walter's Birthday Party

I meant to tell you about Walter's 70th Birthday party! His birthday was December 30, and we celebrated it when all the family was here on New Year's Day. We really wanted to do something special for Walter, like take him to a tour of the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, but it was not open for tours on that day, so we opted for an old fashioned party at the house! What a great time we had playing "Pin the Tie on Walter," "Dancing with the Star," and trying to knock down a football pinata. Here is some of the action...

Here is Anna dancing with the "star," a dummy representing Walter! All of us girls had a chance to dance, while the guys were the judges with their witty comments!

Here Wes is explaining the tie he designed for his dad.

Wayne is about to pin his tie onto the poster of Walter.

This is Anna having fun with the youngest nieces, Romy and Mallory. They are wearing the pajama pants they just got for Christmas.

Anna's Latest Art in Our House

This is a painting of Walter and me inspired by our college yearbook pictures. It is displayed in our hallway.
This is a lovely mother-and-baby which Anna gave me for my birthday. It is hanging in our bedroom.

Oh, and this is just a photo of my kitchen sink! It shows my new wallpaper, a chicken cutting board, and a declaration from the cook (which is true of both Walter and me, ha ha!).

Grandbaby Romy

Here are some shots of Walter and me with Romy. What a delight she is!

Romy on Walter's Tie

As you may know, Walter is known at church for his ties on which he sports the latest pictures of the granddaughters. Here is his latest one from our trip to Austin last week to visit our son Wayne and wife Stacy and 14-month-old Romy. In this picture she is at the park, looking up, so when he wears this tie, it appears that she is looking up to see Walter's face!
Isn't she darling? Since we saw her last, she learned to walk and say some words. What a joy she is!

Mom Just Turned 90!

Mom had her 90th birthday on March 8. Here is an article about her in the Woodside Village publication. She is the resident of the month!! My brother John and cousin Lori were there to celebrate with her. Wish I could have been there too!
