Ribbon Roses for Mothers Day

Here are some ribbon roses for Mothers Day.

Take a 1.5-inch-wide satin ribbon and cut a piece 34 inches long. Fold in half to find the midpoint. At that point tack a 36-inch length of 1/8th -inch-wide ribbon at its midpoint. With the ribbons folded in half, the skinny ribbon inside the other ribbon, tack at about six various points, on either side of the skinny ribbon, but not catching it in the stitches. See the photo for placement of the tacks. I did these on the sewing machine, carefully pushing the skinny ribbon out of the way. (I have included a picture of one made from a sheer ribbon so that you can see the narrow ribbon inside.) Now you can pull on the skinny ribbons and the whole thing will bunch up and look like a flower. Mother can tie it around her neck, on her wrist, on her hat or her purse or wherever she'd like to wear a flower! Sorry, the finished roses got a little smushed in my scanner! ha ha.
