Ivah Mae McClenathan, age 90, of Claridon died Sunday evening August 15, 2010 at Woodside Village in Mount Gilead. She was born March 08, 1920 in Marion County to the late David B. & Emma M. (Miley) Gompf.

Ivah was a 1937 graduate of Claridon High School. She worked as a homemaker and devoted mother as well as being supportive of the McClenathan Cabinet Shop along with her husband Alva.Ivah was married to the late Alva F. McClenathan on November 14, 1938 in Greenup, Kentucky and spent 61 loving years together until his death on January 11, 2000.

She was a lifetime member of the Saint John Lutheran (Windfall) Church. She also played a very active role in the Claridon community where she knew everyone. Ivah was extremely organized and kept many records. She was very interested in history and was instrumental in the starting of a reunion for the following one room school houses in Marion County: Klinefelter, Hickory Corners, and Eichhorn Corners. She also was responsible for compiling the "Gompf Family History" covering the years 1790-1962 with updates. Ivah enjoyed writing letters, quilting (in the tradition of her mother) and acquired the hobby of collecting from her husband Alva. Her specialty was collecting butter pats.

Ivah is survived by her son John (Doris) McClenathan of Marengo and a daughter Marie (Walter) Magruder of Allen, TX; Six Grandchildren, Wesley (Leah) Magruder, Anna Magruder (Sean Thielen), Wayne (Stacy) Magruder, Mark J. (Marilyn) McClenathan, Brian McClenathan, and Michael McClenathan; two Step-Grandchildren Steve (Tammy) Tucker and Charles Tucker; eight Great-Grand Children, Rachel, Chloe, and Mallory Magruder, Romy Magruder, Marquea and Matthew McClenathan, and Chelsea (Travis) Whitney; two Great-Great Grandchildren, Caitlyn and Megan Whitney.

Ivah was preceded in death by her only brother Edward Gompf and an infant sister.

Friends may call Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00AM at the St. John Lutheran (Windfall) Church with Pastor Henry Seibert officiating. The burial will follow in Claridon Cemetery.Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice of Morrow County or St. John Lutheran (Windfall) Church.
